Hi Jof,
Thanks for the info, I think I saw all the gigs you've listed apart from
Burberries (not quite valentines day as I thought - must have been
something else that caused me to miss it).
I did see the gig at the Institute, but apart from seeing Gerard on the
stairs on the way in I can't remember anything about it.
I remember Rodney doing an impromptu version of Tomorrow Never Knows at
the Irish Centre when there was some equipment problems Gerard announced
that Rodney could play any Beatles song and someone called out Tomorrow
Never Knows. he also threw his guitar into the audience at the end only
for a roadie to jump into the audience to get it straight back.
I've also got a feeling I saw them at the Hummingbird at some point but
again the old memory is failing me, and another time at whatever Goldwyns
changed it's name to later. One of these might have been the Rough Music
tour.
Like you my first encounter was at the NEC supporting REM, I didn't have a
clue what they performed, but was sufficiently impressed to go and buy
whatever CDs where available the next day (Friendloverplane was all I
could find and a short wait for Swagger to be released). Anybody any
ideas what songs they performed on the tour, I guess Breaking In My Heart
was last as they were joined by a few extra guitarists (most of REM?).
