You're right about the shops registering sales for the charts. Gig sales normally cost the band money, but can get new fans to become loyal fans. I sell official merchandise at gigs and the amount it costs to transport, store, pay for a vendor and sometimes commission to the venue can make the band lose out. Buying the t/shirt, etc online is usually cheaper for the band, but you need a website first........err any news on how that's going?
