RE: A million messages

You can set up a web-based account for the list (mailcity, hotmail etc),
and
check it when you have the time. That'll keep your mailbox relatively
clear
of list clutter. I've actually got about 20 accounts on my mail server -
one
for each list I'm on, plus a few more 'regular' addresses. It keeps
everything better organized..

Subject: Re: A million messages
Where do I start??
I turn my back for five minutes and there`s another 500 messages waiting
for
me - certainly not a complaint, but the internet connection (or the
network)
here is desperately slow, and I only have access at work -- work which, I
have to say, is suffering because I spend at least an hour most days JUST
ACCESSING AND READING the messages. Like I say, not in any way a
complaint,
but has anyone got any suggestions as to how I can keep in touch with all
of
you wonderful people, PLUS have time to E-mail my other friends, AND
(quite
important, this one) keep my job?????
Any advice gratefully received..........
On other points......
The Smiths: You can say that Marr was the talented one, on the strength
( or
rather lack of strength) of Morrisey`s solo stuff, but has Johnny done any
better since...? Electronic? As bland as the name implies......
Often the whole is greater than the sum of its parts....
Strangelove: Someone asked for my Patrick Duff story, describing him as a
"horrible, scarey man". I`d go with that, although he may be a little
better
now he`s off the booze. His family lived around the corner from an
ex-girlfriend of mine in Bristol, and his sisters went to the same
(all-girl) school as her, where they were reknowned bullies. Because of
this, my ex had a number of `disagreements` with them. She believes that
it
is on the strength of this (she can think of no other reason) that,
several
years after leaving school, Patrick walked straight up to her at a party
and
began shouting personal and vulgar abuse at her in an extremely agressive
manner. He continued until she left the party in tears. Not a nice man.
Despite that, and his melodramatic style, I still enjoy the band`s
second,
and parts of the first, album, although I put that down to the Lee /
Langley
Aeroplanes influence. Their last album was shite, but then I guess that`s
why they split up.....
Linking two themes that ran through the list for a while -- I never could
bring myself to like Ned`s Atomic Dustbin ..... sorry..... even though I
saw
them live supporting Jesus Jones, who I did like (especially live) for a
while...(Linking THREE themes.....)...
I do feel extremely ignorant reading this list sometimes ..... I`ve not
heard of, let alone heard, most of the bands you mention -- including the
much lauded of late Chameleons..... As my
high-disposable-income-buying-any-record-recommended days appear to be
over
(having traded them in for a much happier life - teaching for peanuts in
Slovakia) I`ll just have to nod sagely and pretend to know what the hell
you`re all talking about........
Yours, hoping no Saw Doctors fans read this list,
Phill.........
