MBV were vaguely gothic before they even graduated to C86. For McCarthy,
read Stereolab. I've been listening back to some old tapes recently and I
think back then the sounds were a lot more interesting but the songs
weren't. To think that House of Love, My Bloody Valentine and the Stone
Roses have been replaced in the indie charts by Travis and Stereophonics
is
very depressing, though.
And Charlatans UK? That always makes me laugh.. and London Suede. Are
there any more like that?
