I have heard of 1000 yd stare. I even saw them live once. I can't remember
a thing about them, apart from the fact I think that they were from Slough
(as featured in 'The Eton Rifles' and the poem by John Betjamen). Having
spent many years in both places I can say that Yorkshire is marvellous but
there could hardly be much more the hell wrong with Slough. In fact,
Slough
is hell, or at least a decent likeness. I once missed a Blue Aeroplanes
gig
at a venue near neighbouring Windsor.
