I did go through a TYS phase around 91/92 (which is possibly
longer than the band themselves lasted). And they did have a
certain indefinable english parochial quality (not necessarily the
parish of Slough, fortunately).
They did three or four EPs (one including 0-0 AET), all with olde
englishe titles such as 'Spindrift EP', which whipped up a bit of
excitement among the critics. And rightly so. The first album was
(in my opinion) a bit dissapointing - not enough variety.
Same was true of their second (and last?) album: Great EPs ('Little
Version of Me'), average album.
Saw them do a 'homecoming gig' at the Slough Festival,
summer92, where they were excellent.
Slough Festival? What were they thinking of? Still, it was one-year
only, and gave me the chance to see lots of my favourite
shoegazing bands (Ride! Curve! Slowdive!).
