A friend of mine from university was at that gig!!!

We were both into the Aeroplanes @ uni and he was telling me that he'd
seen them at the Irish centre (he's from Birmingham) and Rodney seemed to
be in a bad mood throwing his Rickenbacker around.

Happy days!!!

David

At a gig in the mid-90s, maybe 1994, at the Birmingham Irish Centre, the
Planes were hampered by technical difficulties. For a while, Rodney
entertained people by playing Beatles covers and Gerard claimed he could
play every Beatles song. So the first question would be: Is that really
true? Every song? Secondly, when the problems continued, Rodney threw his
Rickenbacker into the crowd, to the horror of a roadie who jumped into the
sea of arms to retrieve it ... so I guess my next question is: shouldn't
he be more careful with a Rickenbacker?

OK, you've goaded me in to action....

At the last Aeroplanes' gig Gerard claimed Rodney played in a Slade
tribute band. Is this true? Can Rodney still stand any of the Slade
songs when he hears them on the radio? And finally, does he ever think
he'll play the Moped Song live again?

Roger
