You must remember that I was 16 when "Anarchy in the UK" was released -
anything old, hairy progressive, slow, over 2 minutes long, or that our
collective
big brothers liked, was ruthlessly purged during the punk wars - maybe we
threw the baby out with the bathwater but the purge was certainly needed -
just
watch those reruns of early 70s OGWT - and Zep were pretty much the
epitome of
all we hated about the musical establishment.
Over the years I have managed to let back into my life Neil Young, Pink
Floyd, Black Sabbath, and even some Deep Purple - but I cannot find
anything
remotely enjoyable in Zep, although I can see they are good at what they
do, and a
hell of a lot better than Wishbone Ash; Rush; Uriah Heep; Genesis; Yes;
Status
Quo (the list is endless).
I really would far rather see the Aeroplanes!
Cheers!
Rocker
