(unlurk) I was there too at the Spitz, and they were fabulous. The
venue could have fitted some more people, but it was a good turnout
given the time of year. Audience were more restrained than at the
Mean Fiddlers gig earlier in the year, but enthusiastic.
By dint of mistaken identity, I met Caroline Trettine and she
introduced me to Gerard before the gig. We had a good chat about
poetry, and why people in England don't like it; about intonation and
the BBC "Poetry Please" respectful way of reading poetry aloud; about
his plan for a book (already half written?) on the history of rock,
focused entirely through the year 1971. We didn't actually talk
about the Aeroplanes, but I got the feeling he's fulls of ideas and
full of projects. Thanks to Caroline & thanks to Nancy (though I
don't think either are on the list.)
Saturation Point: I can see where the Fripp comparison came from --
if like me you find some of those instrumental KC/Fripp riffs
interestingly jagged but far too long -- but I liked them: with John
Langley going at the drums with no restraint, and Joe Allen playing
chords on the bass, it was a thick and powerful sound.
I've posted some photos at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/antisyzygy/
sets/72157594442452104/ But be warned it was dark and I'm not much
of a photographer. There are some fabulous ones in Jon Kent's Flickr
pages, eg. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jonkent/128415067/
All best,

Michael
