I am inclined to disagree about Bop Art, there are at least four tracks on
there that are worth a listen in my honest opinion (Bagpipe Music, Pinkies
Hit the Union, Control Of Embassies and Chelsea Wallpaper). Tolerance -
Awesome. Have heard a couple from the others (Police-38 Divinity and
Cowardice and Caprice) which makes me definitely want to buy the other
pre-Swagger LPs.

Oh Bugger!
It looks like the bold two who dared to 'come out' about their true
feelings about Rodders' overall contribution to the mighty 'planes are
well and truly in da doghouse innit!
We must remember that the planes were in existance as a great band well
before Swagger 'n Beatsongs. Good albums they both are but they are also
the most straightforward musically - a move away from some of the more
outlandish stuff of previous - folk instruments and all. [Yes - the word
'folk' would normally make us indie kids run a mile but I think the planes
used such instruments to good effect]. The planes had already given us
four albums before Swagger. At least three of them excellent (I can't
vouch for Bop Art as unfortunately I have never heard it but as I remember
comments on here a good while ago, the general concensus is "don't
bother"?).
I guess I'm lucky insomuch as I first heard the 'planes around '87/'88
on Radio 1 in the evening with stuff like 'Cowardice and Caprice' and
'Coats' and was rather taken by them. Jog my memory: was it that sweetie
Janice Long or cuddly Liz Kershaw?!
Anyway, I'm not dissing RA myself, just saying I'm not too hot on his
stuff.
