Fabbo. Nice to hear from PV1. What happened to Infinite Monkeys?

Great to hear that Hazel's still about. My mate Nick bumped into her in a
pub recently. He told her he was a fan and remarked that she must get
recognised by lots opf people all the time. "No" she said, pointedly.
"You're the ONLY one." Nick is now convinced that Hazel Winter thinks
he's a nutcase.

Anyway, I'm trying to weasel out of a prior engagement to come to the Folk
House on 30th May, so what about anyone else local? Can you make it?

Subject: [Blueplanes] Back on Line & Hazel Winter info

  Hi all,

Kind of dropped off this list a while ago when my ISP went t*ts up and
my old e-mail address with it. When I finally got round to trying to sign
up again I couldn't find it.

Wish I'd found it even a few days earlier, as I'd managed to get a radio
show on an RSL station (which is a month long licence and is part of the
application process for a full local radio licence) called Powerjam in
Bristol. I opened the first show with Broken & Mended, and on the second
show which was last night (last one next Monday 8 - 11pm, 106.6FM - get
the plug out of the way, eh?) I had Hazel Winter as my special guest.

A few of you may remember me raving about Hazel's gigs and her first
album here ages ago. Well, I'd briefly run into her at Unit 3 rehearsal
studios a while back, and when I got the chance to do the show and play
some local music amongst the national stuff she was top of my list of
local people to get on the show. I got in touch and luckily she agreed to
come in and do a live interview and also to play a track off the new
album, Death Row Bride, which is due out fairly soon. Those of you who
have only heard the songs might wonder what she'd be like in an interview
(!) but she's a really lovely person, very quick and humourous. The
interview went pretty well (although I need to listen back again to it to
be sure), we also played Breeder off Put Away The Sharp Knives and a
couple of tracks chosen by Hazel (Long Neck Bottles by Captain Beefheart
and 32/20 Blues by Robert Johnson.)

Anyway, I've heard 4 tracks from the upcoming album and they are
excellent. Hazel is playing at the Folk House on 30th May, so I'll be
doing my best to get to that gig. Hopefully see one or two of you there
(the other PV - hows it going?)

I've also heard a rumour that Gerard might be doing a poetry gig with
musical back-up at the Cube in Bristol either this month or next month.
Will post when I hear anything more.

  All the best,

  Paul Vallis (PV1 as was!)
