Just for my penny's worth (I run a PR/marketing agency - sorry)... Before
the deal/transfer is signed, I see no reason why EMI would want to promote
this.

They're divesting themselves of a piece of IP that isn't making/has lost
them money (why else so cheap?: that's not good news for their 
shareholders,
so unlikely to be something they want to talk about in the press.

However, once the deal/transfer is done, there's a good PR story there -
fans taking over from record companies to help/rescue/promote lesser-known
acts, etc. But again, apart from raising the profile of the 'planes, the
rest is pure vanity.

Top ideas in general, but I`m not sure about the publicity aspect - if 
this 
is, as it seems, a knock down price, then maybe the record company might

cold feet and back out of an unsigned agreement if they feel they might

the risk of setting a precedent. I`ve no idea if this is true or not. In 
fact I`m talking about things I have absolutely no knowledge or experience
