Hello mate,
Been off work for a few days.....recovering !....great gig....sorry I
didn't
stick around ...the mad man in the anorak put me off hanging
around...inever
did buy you that beer I owe you
...let's get this swagger thing off the ground...suggest a gig where al the
proceeds go to help Gerard buy it back of EMI...could be good PR for EMI as
they've been having such a rough time of it recently......

My memories of the gig are hazy - we arrived much too early, and had too
much booze time.
Phil Hendry was on top form, storming the stage at one point (sorry Phil, I
just didn't think you were serious about doing that!) The band were fab and
Gerard's mum is very sweet! Had a short chat to Gerard before the show -
he
said that the band hadn't played anywhere at all since the gig at the
Fiddlers last year. He mentioned the eight albums too. One is Swagger -
but
where's he going to get that grand from? Maybe we should club together!
Another album will be a re-release of 'Siamese Boyfriends', the acoustic
album that he did with Ian Kearey years ago. Apparently it will have extra
stuff on it. Another thing is a collection of poetry which he has set to
music, using out-takes of various bands' studio recordings. Famous bands
too, like REM and Love which were two that he mentioned. He described it
as
'sort of illegal' so I guess there must be some legal loopholing going on.
Anyway, the first volume (for there could be several) is due for a very
limited release and promotional gig at the Cube in February. That's the
plan, anyway, so everyone keep an eye out.
Had a short chat with Ann Sheldon. She said that the band were without a
manager. Also, Max Noble, who was unexpectedly on stage, had been roped in
at the last minute since their regular guitarist (I can't remember who) had
gone AWOL. Poor Max was obviously crapping himself and struggling to
remember the songs, but did really well. He said he'd had four hours'
notice to re-learn the songs which he hadn't played for years!
Rodney sounded great too, but a quick chat with him was a bit sad really.
He
has abandoned his album 'Little Paradise' as being 'not good enough' and
pretty much given up the music thing. He drives a lorry for a living.
Bands
like Oasis blunder on, but a man of this obvious talent seems left in the
wilderness. Frustrating.
Anyway, the gig was great, but how long until the next one?
