I guess we must be about the same age... Delgados and Belle and
Sebastian --
you weren't at the Bowlie Weekender by any chance? Quickspace
(Supersport),
Stereolab, VU, Roxy, the Fall even. A man after my own record collection,
and no mistake. And MBV are still one of my favourite bands... they were
one of those bands where you'd hear a track and sit there thinking... what
the fuck was THAT? Anyway, Feed Me With Your Kiss was the first proper
single I ever bought and MBV were the first band I ever went to see live,
so
... I think you understand. And Perfect Disaster too... I never got to
see
them but Up was one of my fave albums for a long time. I've got a Fire
compilation CD with 2 BA tracks (Veils of Colour and Continually Torn
apart), two PD tracks ('55 and Hey Now) and a classic quote about Spacemen
3.... "Sweetly, simply put, Spacemen 3 are the only English band that I'd
walk across the sea to piss on.". Spacemen 3 were the second band I ever
saw, and it cost £1.50. Aaaah, those were the days.
Sorry everyone. Nostalgia over with.
