OOOH... the discussion heats up.

>Hey, screw youse guys. I like Rodney's music. I also like Captain
>Beefheart & Can,

I always liked Canned Beefheart. MMM yum. :)

>You can't compare them to each other. It's
>great stuff on its own - next to Gerard's music it's ... different.

Does Gerard write music? I've never gotten a straight answer on this
one.

> Nirvana was a poor man's Replacements

Now THIS is an interesting statement. I dunno about 'poor man', I'd
think it's more like "Nirvana, the band for people who aren't old
enough to get into bars or have any older siblings or friend's siblings
who can get them booze and fags."

>was a poor man's Alice Cooper

Funny, I always thought Alice Cooper was a poor man's Alice Cooper.
Certainly anymore, what with him swaggering around a stage with a crop,
leather trousers, and voting Republican.

>was a poor man's ...uhhh Doors? And I'll take the Replacements over
>the Doors anyday.

Right there witcha, pal. "Hi, I'm drunk I'm nobody; hi I'm drunk I'm
famous; hi I'm drunk I'm dead! Big fat dead drunk guy in the bathtub!"

>(I'm not a big Billy Bragg fan either. Not that
>he's not good at what he does - it just doesn't appeal to me. Go
>figure.)

Right there witcha, pal. Tuseday nights, I attend in a class at The
Old Town School Of Folk Music here in Chicago taught by Steve Earle.
I'm spending cash to hear a guy go on ad nauseum about the ill we've
done the American Indians, the Environment, the Folk Music movement in
the 1930's... another helping of White Man Guilt, please.
