Well I should have been pleased to get the point, but I saw the
first half and we could have had three or four goals, so a bit
disappointed
in the end (I got the final score off Rodney). The gig, on the other hand
was brilliant, probably as good as I've ever seen them.
I counted the audience, it was about 40 (number of people, not
average age).
About two of them danced and they didn't annoy me, for God's sake,
even though they nearly knocked me over. Most gigs you have to worry
about
a body of about 50 people charging towards you and spilling your pint, so
we
can count ourselves lucky these days, can't we? Similarly, there are
lists
where as a matter of routine people who love the sound of their own
keyboard
tap-taps are hostile or mock-hostile every day of the week. This list is
lucky!
I think John has a point about the chronology thing. Personally I
will not discuss the Jasmine Minks or the Chesterfields on a mailing list
in
the grand space age year of 2000 - although of course everyone else can.
I have a set list, tomorrow I will tell you what's on it (I left it
at home).
I have Cavaliers, the first disc is great, a switchback to the
folky
kind of stuff, but possibly just bits of songs stuck together? The line
up
is almost a completely new set of musicians (even Rodney only features on
2
of the 12 'parts'). Second disc is a little patchy (demos etc), but
Roundheads is brill. Very odd, overall, not sure whether it's a proper
album or not, they could easily have fitted it on one CD as well.
Damian, you're not wrong about Robert Carlyle, I spoke to him
afterwards, he's a good mandolin player. I thought Vic Reeves was the
bass
player though. Gerard's crotch-grabbing activities (and his trousers)
were
really rather off-putting, I'm afraid. Artists, eh?
Nora seemed very drunk!
michael,
disjointed
