MMM... my blood's green. I suspect we've been eating the same vinage
of expired Twinkies :)

Speaking of starfucking stories... the only time I met Gerard was back
in 1994 when the Aeros played a fine show at the Double Door here in
Chicago. Tim Keegan was touring with them, and I talked to him while
he set up his pedals, cables, mike, and guitar. A very nice guy.
I remember a tiny little stage, with seven guys on it, jumping around
like madmen. I was right at the foot of the stage for the entire show,
and we had a helluva time dodging Woj as he kept dancing on top of the
upstage monitors.

At the end of the show as the guitars were playing their closing bang
bang riffs on "Pony Boy", Woj, completely breathless, crouched down at
the edge of the stage next to me on his haunches, completely drenched
in sweat. I shook his hand. He had the biggest grin on his face. It
was lovely.

The drummer hit the last beat with a huge BANG, and everyone stopped
and started marching offstage, except for the drummer... who marched
right up to me and handed me his drumsticks. They were completely
fried-- the middles were battered beyond recognition.

I didn't go to the show alone-- I went with two friends of mine, Kate &
Monique, neither of them had seen the Aeros before. Kate had come for
a weekend visit-- she's from a small town in eastern Nebraska, and had
never heard of the Aeros before. She was completely enthralled by
them.

After the gig, we went off to another bar in the neighbourhood and had
a few beers, then we decided to go to Monique's place. Walking to her
apartment, we passed by the Double Door again, and collided into Gerard
and about three other people. After saying "sorry" and so forth, I
finally realised I'd probably never have a chance to say anything to
him again, so I introduced myself and said that the show was great and
I'd waited a long time... blah, blah. All the while, I'm thinking,
"Jesus, this guy looks just like John Sessions!"

After I'd said my bit, Kate sauntered up to Gerard, put her little hand
in his and said how much she'd enjoyed the show and that she'd never
ever heard of the band before, but she was going to find all of their
albums... blah, blah. And she finishes by giving him a little kiss on
the cheek. Whereupon Gerard snakes his arm around her waist and says,
"Oh, come on, give us a proper one." and BANG! Next thing you know
they're snogging underneath the El tracks on Damen Avenue. This girl's
been in town for HOW many hours and she's in a liplock with Gerard
Langley. Good work, Kate.

At some point, a woman grabbed Gerard by the shoulder and said, "Come
ON. We've got to go do the radio show..." and Gerard said right, said
good night... and they left.

That's the only time I've met Gerard.
