Church vs. the Planes

In case it hasnt been covered, does anyone know how or
why the two bands toured together in the states back
in '90?  I always thought it was a curious match. 
Wasnt Church on Arista and The Planes on Ensign at the
time - one in the same?  So was it a mutual liking or something?
