Action Painting features on the cover cd of the October Mojo just out,
along with tunes from a whole bunch of cult indie acts from 1982 - 1987
(Felt, Television Personalities, Go-Betweens, Martin Stephenson & the
Daintees etc)
Cover story is a new biography of The Smiths so i think the idea is to
highlight a few less well-known acts from their period. Blurb inside
says:
'Inspired by punk and The Velvet Underground, frontman Gerard Langley
founded The Art Objects in the summer of 1978. Lasting three years, the
Bristol-based outfit split and Langley refined his art-rock ambition in
The Blue Aeroplanes. Their first recordings comprised the album Bop Art
on the band's own label before they signed to Fire. The title track of
their 1984 EP, this tune illustrates Langley's poetic take on dissonant
indie rock, a vision which he continues to pursue to this day.'

For those unable to listen:
Cracking versions of And Stones, My Old Haunts and Oak Apple Day.
A couple of new names in the line-up along with Gerard, John, Chris and
Angelo. Mike and Bec, I think they were called.
And I hesitate to bring up the subject but Anti-Gravity will apparently
be available on "deluxe" CD (with an extra disc of something
unspecified) in time for the December Bristol gig.
