Yes Art Brut used Pledge for Brilliant Tragic. They even promised to play
in
your home for just £750!

there's a lot of excitement out there about the new album and rightly so...
my mate is currently nurturing my copy of it, so although I do have the
necessary equipment, the vinyl is sadly in the wrong country. So I'm still
none the wiser.

Yesterday whilst strolling through Essen during the free music festival, I
happened to notice that the geezer Hugh Cornwall will be playing a small
venue here next Sunday... great I think. Possibly a little too much
restrospective live gigging in one weekend, with the Specials performing in
Cologne the day before, but you should take your chances when they come
really. Anyway I check his website to get up to speed on what he's up to
and
he has a free album that he's putting out through pledgemusic.com. It's his
choice to put it out there for free, hats off to him for that, but other
artists are using that site quite differently. Generating cash for releases
(and charity) by not just selling the download, but also the resulting cds
and special fan packages with one-off souvenirs and all sorts of stuff.....
perhaps that might be an alternative, and may allow them to actually
produce
an old-fashioned cd....

btw damn and blast the date of the Christmas gig - 15 years ago I mistimed
things and the subsequent birth of my eldest daughter has since clashed on
a
regular basis with the gig....

cheers, Gray
