Another top night - great to see Gordon again, and the usual Bristol
suspects of course.
The harmonies in the breakdown on Bury Your Love Like Treasure were
fantastic, especially as it was the first song of the set and some
elements of the sound mix had yet to settle down.
Nice to hear Vade Mecum Gunslinger too. I vaguely remember that being
played at a gig at the Fleece back in the 90's sometime. Colour Me is a
great favourite of mine too.
Rodney thrusting his guitar (an Epiphone I think, rather than his usual
Rickenbacker) towards Angelo in the audience before Breaking In My Heart
in a "get up here or else!" way was a nice moment. Angelo eventually
complied and Rodney went back to his acoustic.
Maybe the vinyl only release is to give the band some mystique, or to
generate some publicity? Or maybe it's a self release and Gerard still
hopes to get a full release through a label in the future, and a vinyl
only release wouldn't be deemed to have hurt potential CD/download sales
too much? Or am I just thinking too much?
Interesting that Gerard Starkie has a song on new album. Is there a Rita
one as well?
20th May - has that been mentioned before and I just missed it?
