Trying to remain on topic... What is the capacity of the Fleece, and are
there likely to be any tickets left on the door? I ask because (at the
300th time of asking) I have finally managed to introduce someone
successfully to the wonders of the Aeroplanes and they plan to attend the
gig (it would be their first). However, they don't arrive in the UK until
the day before the concert & I don't live in Bristol any more.
Also, did anyone say if there would be 7"s available on the website after
the gig?
& my understanding was that the album has now been finished for a good
while (after years of no-doubt-necessary tweaking) and that the hold-up
was now down to Gerard holding out for a deal that would get the record
heard by the most possible people (SXSW being an important part of angling
for this deal).... So, is the deal done? Is it half-done? Is it done for?
Or is the Fleece thang another profile-raising rung on the way to the
doing of that deal?
&, not trying so hard to remain on topic, I'm sorry that someone who has
regularly contributed interesting posts to this list for over 10 years has
felt it necessary to leave over a needlessly heavy-handed response to one
of his posts (& I'm not talking about the response for which he received
an apology). I hope he'll reconsider & return. Besides, a lot of the
format discussion was on-topic; trying to influence the future digital
distribution of Aeroplanes' releases. & don't the lurkers have a digest
option for when list traffic increases? & isn't it a lovely day?
Thanks to Steve for running the list, & to Chris & everyone for keeping
everyone as updated as they can. Haven't said that for a while. Feel
better now.
A Phill

Let's try to get back on-topic.. I'm not real rigid about keeping things
strictly Aero related, but there's no reason to inundate people (lurkers)
who are used to a lighter amount of list traffic with this much off-topic
banter.
Thanks,
Steve

The length of the thread seems to stem from people being rather mean
spirited and then the subsequent discussions. The original email I found
interesting but would assume people could just delete if they weren’t like
minded.

At the risk of raising anyone's ire, I honestly really don't care too
much. I like to get news about the Blue Aeroplanes, for sure ... but this
60-message-long thread about compressions and FLAC and MP4s is a bit much.
While we're at it, is it vinegar that you use on a wasp sting, or it it
wine? Or is it something else? I've forgotten. Doe anyone else have any
magic household tips to share?

Yes, I really didn't intend the offence I caused, and I feel bad about it:
I was just being a prat. And actually I care as well (both about the DRM
stuff and about the quality issues). If I meant anything it was that I
care about the music more. OK, I'll shut up now.

Well I care.
I've been listening to music and buying now for over 40 years so the
quality of the format and reproduction makes a difference both at home or
in the gig. (I used to hang out with radio & sound engineers so know well
the downside of compression) This guy had useful tips. Sure the
discussion was a bit techie but driving the poor fellow away was a bit
clumsy even if rudeness was not intended. I note an apology was made
however so perhaps that can mend it.
