Veils of Colour

Anyone found that differing mixes for Veils of Colour somewhat jarring?  
Gerard's vocals buried in the background with all that extra reverb always 
makes me sit up, like I'm a dachshund that's just heard a dog whistle.  

And has anyone figured out the bass line for VoC?
