Fleece noise level problems

Jules

Following this discussion thread I had a meeting with the relevant people at The Fleece this afternoon. Hopefully some of your concerns have been addressed. I have put you +1 on the guest list for Friday. I'm more than happy to meet you on the night to talk about this in more detail.

...and if anyone else starts getting ideas about deliberately complaining so you can get a free ticket... FORGET IT!

;-)

Quality is never automatic but a result of painful mistakes, and great diligence in particular in listening to complaints or being alert to errors. I was about to write serious leter of complaint to the Fleece but as you were recomending a gig in a venue that wasnt yet quite perfect I thought I would address it to the fans who in my opinion might have more influence etc etc.

A good sound engineer would help or perhaps a longer soundcheck after the room filled or didnt fill. Perhaps the next gig will be fine. I can hear Rita in The Plough or the Junction which have fine sound but it would be embarrassing to me if I couldnt hear my favorite bands in their own venue, and upsetting if my freinds and lovers refused to accompany me because noise level is actually painful.

I hope attendees enjoy the next gig.

Nice one Jules! A public slagging no-less...

We're trying really hard to get the Fleece back on it's feet. A good crowd on Friday is crucial. I take on board all your points and we will do our best to address them. I would have preferred it if you had voiced your concerns to me privately via the email address advertised on our website. Comments like "I wouldn't bother" addressed to a few hundred Blue Aeroplanes fans who would normally be quite interested in a gig like this are hardly going to help us.

Hope to see you on Friday

Cheers

If the sound levels were at the painfull level of last weeks gig I wouldnt bother.

Ritas wonderful songs were entirely muffled by excess bass from Johns kit which is hardly what they strived for. The bands before and after were so loud as to be painful and almost certainly in contravention of Health & Safety legislation. I listened to the first band from outside the toilets and the final band from outside in the street. I dont know if the sound engineer made a slip in both level and microphone set up, but it needs addressing or even training.

I went to several perfectly good gigs recently (Prom Bar, Blue Lagoon even Seven Stars) where you could hear every word and not risk significant further deafness and still feel the pulse of the music.

Hi everyone

Just a little nudge to maybe get some of you down to The Fleece on
Friday?

The Mekons + Gerard Starkie + Rita Lynch + The Smokestack Shakers.

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=137018899653343&index=1

All the Aeroplanes will be there. John Langley is drumming for both
Rita and Gerard Starkie. Starkie's band also includes former Aeros
bassist Joe Allen and current guitarist Loki Lillistone. John also
used to drum for The Mekons so it's all a bit incestuous really!

In other news we are planning a massive Fleece launch night with The
Blue Aeroplanes headlining, VIP bar, local celebs, loads of press,
even a new single on vinyl! Full details to follow in the next few
days...

Cheers

Chris
