Top work,Mr Heb.

Hmmm
Given this lots of thought
I’ve left off tracks I’d expect to hear, and am trying for the most part to avoid the quagmire of nominating songs I could do without (Love Come Round for starters). I think when it comes to pre-Swagger material, I think they’ll play what they want anyway And while I was very tempted by wonderful b-sides Talkin' On The Other Phone or Mis-Firing, I thought I’d go for some other options that made the studio LPs…

So. my choices are
1. Daughter Movie
One of the highlights of their set from Glastonbury (I think it was 1992), and the entire festival in fact. It made me hope for so much for the next album, but the version on Life Model lacked the power of that day.

At the 10th anniversary three-set show at the Mean Fiddler, I told the person on the merch desk that I’d felt a little let down by Life Model. He told me the forthcoming Rough Music would redress that balance (and to a great extend it did). Yet live now the ‘planes always opt for Defective Song (sic). Me? I’d like to hear
2. A Map Below from Rough Music
A lost gem – it has that great guitar sound and some wonderful lyrics. It deserves a revival

Finally
3. Your Ages from Swagger
Only time I’ve heard it live was at The Borderline Swagger re-issue gig. But it felt a bit rushed and unloved that night. Maybe time for another run at it?

And as a fourth, it would have to be the sublime Disney Head as I’ve only heard it the once at that 10th Anniversary gig. Of course, it’s all dependent on line-ups, so I’m not making it one of my three as the requisite people may not be there to play it

So, in summary, my three votes are (in release date order)
Your Ages
Daughter Movie
A Map Below

And if someone’s printing T’s, I loved the Beat ones with the dictionary definition
They sold them at their Underworld gig – 1990 or 1991?
Any hope?

Anyhoo – see you all at Dingwalls
James
