RITA LYNCH BAND

Rita Lynch has stood on the brinkglanced over into the abyss and dragged
herself back. And then she discovered punk rock. Her songs are an
explosion of
sexualreligious and social imagery driven by an energy that comes across
just
as strongly in an acoustic set as when Rita performs with a band. Rita
gained
a lot of attentionparticularly in the gay communityfor her debut album
"Call
me your girlfriend". One of the songs from the album - the gorgeous but
scary Beautiful eyes was used in a short film "Rosebud" and Rita was the
subject
of a Channel Four documentary for the "Out" series. Since then Rita has
toured constantly with a band and as a solo artist. Apart from punkher
influences
include Bob DylanPatti SmithRoxy MusicThe FallJoy DivisionIggy Pop and
Irish
ballards. -'sugarshack records'

"I really like Rita Lynch, although I have only seen her with her band. I
think my music is less aggressive than hers , or rather she is aggressive
in a
different way. she's had more experience of the world and I think that
shows
in her performance."
:- PJ HARVEY.
Expect to hear tracks off her newly recorded album.....

GERARD STARKIE

Gerard Starkie is one of the finest singers in England. That might sound
like pure rhetoric but the evidence has long been evident from the two
magnificent albums that Starkie recorded with his former bandWitness.
"Witness used to work democratically. It's a much more single-minded
process
now. Obviously that's going to have an effect"he says. "I've also been
working songs on a computer rather than just an acoustic guitar and
againthat
alters the flavour butat the end of the dayit's still me writing the
songsso
don't expect a hip hop album."

BUTCHER
Thought we invented the notes E n G....apparently not and the real
inventor
is rather tetchy and wants them back. Well you can't and while we're at
it
we're going to pop A n C in the lumpy swag bag too. they'll wriggle
around
whining for/like their mummy as we tie em up tight with a 70 gaugewhack
em about
a bit with the heavy end of a tele and chuck em in the deep end of the
rock n
roll lakejust where most of the sewers spurt like romantically broken
fountains
