Thanks for reminding me Gordon, I meant to post when I got back in last
night but went straight to bed.
Well, to start with it wasn't Gerard and Ian Kearey as billed, it was
Gerard and Paul Bradley (the guy on LIT 2 - or was it 3...). Gerard said
something like "Ian Kearey's psychiatrist has advised him not to do any
more gigs for the time being". Go figure....
Anyway, they played an interesting set. It included an Auden poem that I
believe was on the Siamese Boyfriends lp that Gerard and Ian did (that I
don't have a copy of, though a mate has), a track called The Bagman Cries
which will evidently be on the next Planes album, and Roundheads.
Interesting stuff. Seemed to go down quite well, polite applause
throughout and a bit more animated at the end.
Swarb was amazing. He looks a bit old a wizened now, but he can still
fiddle like a man possessed. His fretboard work on one pair of reels in
particular was jaw-dropping, and a slow Scottish tune brought a tear to my
eye. He played solo throughout, didn't sing, but did regale us with a few
choice anecdotes and a couple of terrible jokes.
The man is a legend. And for once I don't mean Gerard!

So, did anyone Briz end go last night?
Do tell.
Would love to have made that bill, but......
Swarb plays East Dulwich Tavern next week, but I doubt Gerard,
or more especially, Ian Keary will be there.
Shame but .......
