Never been to Cropedy, which is a bit daft as I live bloody close.
  Thanks for the info, surprised their was a lot of 'mainstream' stuff 
there.
  Haven't seen the Levellers for years, used to follow them a touch till 
the actual music went a bit crap, but they always but on a good live show.

The Aeros at Cropredy? Hmmm. Well, they've got Supergrass there this year, 
so you never know. I reckon they'd go down ok, but I think there are other 
"folk" festivals they'd go down better at. Maybe Trowbridge.

I was right down the front for the Thompson Band at Cropredy last year. 
Whilst it might not have been the best set I've ever seen him perform (I 
have seen him A LOT of times!) it was probably the best set I've seen him 
perform with a band since the 80's, and it was certainly the most intense 
I've seen him with a band.

He can really inhabit those songs solo, scarily so at times, but sometimes 
with a band he seems a bit more distracted, having to keep some of his 
mind on the stage dynamic and what the rest of the band are up to. That 
didn't happen at Cropredy set, probably due to having been touring with 
that ensemble for some time, and probably due to the occasion. Having to 
follow that Fairport Liege and Lief set, that had me in tears by the end 
of Come All Ye, he had to pull out all the stops. Being RT, he didn't take 
the easy route. I think that was the first time I've seen him not perform 
at least one of Vincent Black Lightning or Beeswing since they were 
written.

He is playing at the Green Man Festival this year, so I may skip Cropredy 
and go there instead. There are a few names on the Cropredy line-up I'd 
like to see, but there is that one name that is conspicuous by its 
absence! http://www.fairportconvention.com/cropredy_line_up.php (they've 
got Stackridge this year, so they don't have a problem with Bristol bands!)
