David Axelrod is on Wikipedia so you can read some unreliable information about him there. He provides the music for LIT4, culled from his 1969 jazz classic Songs of Experience. Gerard overlays Blake's words in his lovely way thereby bringing the whole thing full circle in time for Blake's 250th birthday. Almost.

David Axelrod's music sounds like the half-decent backing to a rather good episode of Starsky and Hutch. He may not like this comparison. But there you are: I have made it.

His 'official website' says that Serious jazz lovers will recognize his name. Axelrod freely uses drums, horns, strings, string bass as well as woodwinds along with key board, in his compositions. Poetry has been an influence on his compositions. He is considered a visionary and the father of fusion.

There is no mention there of Gerard or of the Blue Aeroplanes.

LIT4 carries the old EMI Harvest logo, but I suspect this is as dodgy as dodgy can be. (But I am nearly always wrong.)

William Blake - I am thinking of our oversees readers here - was born just east of Carnaby Street and used to go scrumping for apples in Soho and up Tottenham Court Road. His birthplace is now occupied by a huge multi-storey building (or, for our American readers, a really small thing). For Blake, the word 'chartered' rang with meaning.

Blake is famous for having played the electric guitar for King George III at a fireworks party and then eloping with the bass player.

Folks,

So, any feedback on LIT 4 yet? I bought one directly from Sam ... does everyone like it?

Also, is anyone but me and Steve Burt on Facebook? There's a Blue Aeroplanes group, but I always like new friends!

Chris Kemp from Cincinnati!
