Well the vinyl sleeve will have more of a papery rustle about it, where's the plastic cd case will be more click-tastic. Obviously it helps if you have the right equipment, but so long as your hearing hasn't been too permanently damaged from standing right by the speakers at gigs, or playing very loud drums without wearing ear-plugs then you should be able to hear something.
