I've just got home and had a look, and the insert book that comes with the
Harvester Special Edition is different to the one that comes with the
normal edition.

I won't go into all the differences, but the SE one is smaller (though
some of the contents of the normal edition can still be seen in the SE
packaging, such as the main centre picture of the sideboard with the vase,
scythe and the photo) with only 8 pages to the normal edition's 12.

One of the pages missing (page 2 if you're interested) has a list of
tracks, timings, original performers and the title of the lp on which the
original can be found.

To add to the ones I listed earlier:

3 Stagger Lee - Professor Longhair
6 Stop This Train (Again Doing It) - Kevin Ayers
7 It Didn't Work Out - Michael Chapman
9 (I'm) Stranded - The Saints
10 Maisie - Syd Barrett

The only other page you are really missing (page 11) is another track
listing with all the titles, the actual writing credits and publishing
details.

Free Four is on Obscured by Clouds, which I don't have, although I can
vaguely remember hearing it many years ago! Next time I see a copy
(hopefully on vinyl, hopefully cheap!) I'll pick it up.

PV1 OR 2
Got the special edition, and can't see any info to the origin of the
songs, but you've covered most there.
Free four by the floyd?? I'll have to dust off my LP's to revist that one
as I have no memory of it!!

Can somebody though give me the artists who originally did these songs,
and any back ground about them?
Had a look on search engines but could gather no information.

Me:

I'm sure its all there on the insert, or did you download it?

Can't let you know for definite now as I'm at work, but I remember there
being songs by Deep Purple (Fireball), Pink Floyd (Free Four), Syd
Barrett, Barclay James Harvest (Taking Some Time On), Professor Longhair,
Wire (Outdoor Miner) and the Edgar Broughton Band (Hotel Room?) and there
was
the excellent Stranded, but I can't remember who it was by.
