Abi,
Everyone is telling the truth; the Aeros are utterly brilliant live (apart
from a horrible gig at the Garage in 98 or 99 - was anyone else there?).
The Aeros' albums are "slow-burners" and will continue to grow on you
over time, but seeing them live is breathtaking!
All the other posters seem to have overlooked the contribution of Rodney
Allen, so I thought I'd put in a word for the poor love! His backing
vocals (for example on Your Ages - my favourite love song!) really
complement Gerard's spoken word, and a highlight of any Aeros album is the
Rodney Allen song (or songs). You are guaranteed three minutes of
pathetic, angst-ridden, jingly-jangly indie-pop. From Beatsongs, "Fun"
has to be one of the band's best songs (the acoustic version on the
12-inch single of "Up In A Down World, released God-knows-when is
gorgeous!), and why "Different Now" failed to make it onto Swagger remains
a great mystery!
I saw Rodney solo (at my Freshers ball in 1989!) and had to endure a whole
set of it, which was taking things a bit far (as was the solo album
Happysad - how much Billy Bragg had he been listening to?!?), but it was
interesting that, although Rodders (who, incidentally, still looks 12
years old!) was unable to appear on the last tour, the band still played
one of his songs!

Thinking the Bristol Christmas gig might be a good start if that all comes
about (here's hoping!). But yes, definitely willing to travel unless
they're willing to play Skipton in my field. Free cucumber sandwiches and
tea for all, followed by eccles cakes (hot or cold). And beer.
Yeah, they should certainly set a date for Skipton, s'meant to be.
