Tom:
Abi, I stupidly forgot to mention Strangelove, which is really wrong. The bands I mentioned are a few years ongoing but Strangelove are probably most important for their Blue Aeroplane cross-connection and they really are worth checking out(although no longer together). I don't know if Patrick Duff is still the giant 'live' but he used to do this song, i think it's called 'Is there a place'-for me? which would end with the band having stopped and he just carried on singing/screaming outloud 'is there a placefor me'. You just stoppped and got the shivers, it was effing, spinetingling amazing.

Me:
Patrick is still performing live around Bristol reasonably regularly and further afield more occasionally, sometimes solo acoustic, sometimes with a band. He's still got the voice, the stage presence, the aura about him. He released his first solo lp "Luxury Problems" on Harvest (same label altitude came out on, maybe they've got a Bristolian A&R guy in his late 30's/early 40's?) last year, which is a pretty good collection of songs.

PV1
(who would also suggest checking out Robyn Hitchcock)
