Cheers NW. I know it's traditional for confusion to reign around the
Fiddlers gigs, so here we go: isn't the Xmas gig usually on a Friday (9th
Dec is a Saturday)?

I was walking down Union Street on Saturday afternoon when a voice said,
"Hey, Doctor Who guy!" It was Gerard!

I congratulated him on the Harbourside gig, he agreed that it went
really well. I know what you're all wanting to know, though - so here
goes: she's 17 and it was the first time she'd performed with them, and,
yes, she was a tad nervous. He told me her name but I've bloody gone and
forgotten it! He said that the Aeros were rehearsing with her later that
afternoon, so maybe she'll be on the next album?

Talking of which, Gerard said they have loads of songs, one of which is
called "25 Different Kinds Of Love." I quote: "You know that Paul Simon
song, '50 Ways To Leave Your Lover?' Well, he only mentions 6 ways, but in
our song there actually ARE 25 different kinds of love!" Sweet. Sounds
good!

I also told him that Altitude was ace, and reminds me more of
pre-Swagger Aeroplanes, which to me is a good thing. I also told him, for
some reason - can't remember why - that everyone loves "Art Star" and it
would have been mint to have this on the album. He retorted, "Well, it's
on 'Record Player' - so people can go and listen to it there!" Fairy snuff.

I also mentioned a recent dream I had in which I went to an Aeroplanes
gig, and they played 'Sultans of Swing", and that everyone took the piss;
but (in reality now) Gerard agreed with me that it is a good song. He did
say, however, that during the early 90s he was sick to death of critics
comparing the Aeros to Dire Straits. He then added, amusingly, if a little
bafflingy, that "one guy compared us to Dire Straits and The Butthole
Surfers." Can't see the comparison with the latter myself...

Xmas gig at Fiddlers is 9 December.
