- Bcc:
Whether you look at them as producers or singers they are chalk and cheese
aren't they! I can see a bit more common ground with Roy Wood, but I still
can't imagine Gerard with a multicoloured beard (although I'm sure Gerard's
hair isn't its current colour by accident!).
I saw the Roy Wood Army at a festival a few years ago. He had a huge - 6 or
8 piece, can't remember - all female brass section as part of his band.
They certainly rocked!

Cheers Paul. I actually like ELO, but I'm finding it hard to imagine Gerard
as Jeff Lynne. Or as Roy Wood, come to think of it. But then I couldn't
have imagined Gerard as Status Quo until I heard Paper Plane.

Nick:
Not so sure about Blue Aeroplanes v ELO though.....
Me:
As far as I can tell it was only their debut album that was on Harvest -
they moved to Jet after that (wasn't Jet Don Arden's - Sharon Osborne's
dad's - label?). Roy Wood was still in the band on that first lp - its a
mixture of Wood songs and Jeff Lynne songs according to Wikipedia, so there
is likely to be some interesting stuff on it. I've got a couple of later
ELO lps and they're actually not too bad - a bit overblown in arrangements
and production admittedly (the opposite of Altitude!) but listenable
nonetheless. Prog rock for people who don't really like prog rock.
