The Fall
- Subject: The Fall

Ah, well, what I meant was that maybe if I could find ten good
tracks they might serve as some kind of stepping stone to enjoying
(or tolerating) a bit more...
I am a little puzzled why I find it so bad, The Fall, but I think it
is probably something to do with the incredibly repetitive and
relentless riffing.
All the merry vest

Yup! The Fall's another one for me on the sh1t list Philip, so
can't help you!
My advice would be steal the CD's back and get a refund. Then go
out and buy anything, ANYTHING else, including Robyn Hitchcock if
you have to! ;o)
On the plus side though - your son could be playing James Blunt
(cockney rhyming slang if ever I heard it) so at least he's in the
right musical lane, so to speak... (although, when it comes to The
Fall, that lane would preferably be the outside one on the M25!)
...I'll get me coat.

PS - Chris, you're gonna be there on the 31st or I'll tell everyone
you like The Bee Gees... Oh.

Help, please.
My son plays The Fall. Morning, noon and night.
Actually that's an exaggeration. He doesn't get up in the morning.
It's awful.
But weirdly, now and again, I'm reminded of the BAs. Though on
close examination, the ill-played guitars and the bitter monologues
immediately remind me that I am not in Bristol here.
I seem to have bought him a boxed set of BBC sessions for Xmas
which seem to go on for seven hours.
Seven hours.
So, my question is this: what ten or so tracks should I listen to
so I can learn to bear this torture.
Thanks
Philip

Good news about the Temple Meads train then! Wey heeey! Aren't
we a caring and inventive bunch!
I dont know what to recommend if you want to stay over night in
London... Ive never had to worry about it! Ummm... Well, it
goes without saying that hotels round the Borderline will be far
too expensive (its pretty much central London)... Finsbury Park
have some cheap as chips 'hotels', but be warned, Finsbury Park is
also home to crackheads, hookers and other undesirables! (Arsenal
for a start!). Ive had friends who've stayed in FP though without
any complaints or worries though, so I think the hotels are pretty
much just bog-standard B&B type affairs.
Surely theres a few websites that cater for finding this kind of
thing out? London's a massive tourist place, how to tourists find
somewhere to stay?! Come on guys - Eyvind and his mates have
sorted it out from Norway! I'd start at www.craiglist.com and
have a little sniff around there...
'Part from that, re: Rodney - I think yes, he's ON the new stuff,
but he wont be touring in March (it's too horrendously mundane a
reason why so I wont bother telling you! Oh okay - he has to pay
his mortgage!)
And Kate... I want you to know that after I went offline last
night, all I could bloody hear in my head was "lack of involvement
with the father or over involvement with the mother can result in
lack of ability to relate a sexual peeeeeak..." And you KNOW its
impossible to only sing a little bit of that song in your head so
I had to keep starting from the beginning over and over and over
again - and I can't bloody STAND Robyn Hitchcock! ;o) I only know
a few of the songs coz I had a mate once who insisted on putting
them on compilation tapes for me in the hope I'd grow to like him!
And in homosexual leanings
narcissism
transexuality...
