Good points Paul.
I think I said a while ago that I didn't think that there was much left in
the vaults that hadn't already been released, and that looks to be the way.
Remastering has made quite a difference to a lot of old recordings, but
could it really make much of a difference to something that was made well
under 20 years ago by a respected producer? I think it could just end up as
a "different" production. Its definately an lp that should be available in
some format, but whether there's enough there for us die-hards to fork out
for it again is debatable.
I guess that EMI will sort out some sort of web presence themselves if none
other exists at the time (or even if it does!) as they have with Patrick
Duff's recent solo lp. Its a fairly perfunctory site, but at least its
there.
If EMI put some money and effort into promotion and publicity (if only
getting a few high profile reviews in the likes of Q, Mojo and Uncut) then
it could make a big difference. That will probably be dictated by whatever
else is happening on the label and accumulating budgets and manpower at the
same time.
Any more gig personnel rumours surfaced yet? I'm no longer as close to
people who would know as I used to be I'm afraid!

Hmmm....
Am I gonna pay £12 for one track which I don't already have?
I guess the only other thing is that it might be remastered. Wasn't there
some falling-out between the producer and the band? Didn't he (Gil Norton?)
hate Rodney or something? I suppose it might be re-engineered rather than
remastered. Anybody know? Anybody want to tell us?
It does make me wonder, all this. I mean, who's going to buy it if not us
lot? And can we find out anything? Can we bollocks. It's long past time
that the band had a website with all this kind of thing on it.
Clearly somebody's going to have to trap and interrogate one of the band on
December 2nd.

Anyone got any more info to back this up?
"THE BLUE AEROPLANES are to see their 'Swagger Deluxe' album reissued in
an expanded remastered edition on January 16th. The release, expanded to
2-CDs features the original album on one disc and fourteen extra tracks
and unreleased material on the other, including the demo version of 'What
It Is' featuring REM frontman MICHAEL STIPE on vocals. The band will
peform the album in full at a special gig at London's Borderline on
January 31st in advance of a brand new studio album, 'Altitude', the
band's first new release for ten years which is scheduled for a March
release..."
