Re: Live gigs on CD

Jim,
Honestly mate, do the travelling from Rotherham! You'll get in... The Fiddlers is quite large and these days the band don't take up half the building!

Chris and Anne, honestly mate(s), do the travelling from... What? Oh.

Aaaaaah, this is nice innit? Nothing like a bit of mindless ranting and the smell of bacon sandwiches to get people talking! Cor though, imagine playing And Stones or Cardboard Box or something on a beach in New Zealand when the sun's going down... Chris you lucky bugger!

I would happily burn CD's for anyone who wants anything - but sadly two things prevent me.. 1] I dont have a burner and 2] I'm a lazy cow ;o) so perhaps some lovely kind soul here will cater for Jim and Chris's requests (Oh come on, it IS Christmas!). If not, can I suggest www.limewire.com for all your downloading musical needs... There's the usual BA's stuff on there but also, I happen to know someone else on the list who has all things weird and wonderful by the band on his mac... perhaps he'd be willing to click the 'share files' button and upload them onto limewire??! (You know who you are!). It's free and I swear by it... (Ethincally it probably 'costs', but well, I dont care!)

Lit 1 and Lit 2 are (I now remember after Paul's post!) hard to come by - they were sold at the Christmas gigs I think... dunno how you'd get one these days? But these are all things that should go on a website so I'm keeping all these emails as research if you don't mind?

And finally, a crap joke (just coz I'm in an uncharacteristically good mood this morning and this made me titter):
Woman goes into Iceland (the freezer shop, not the country) and picks up a frozen chicken. After weighing it up in her hands and prodding it for a while, she puts it back and picks up another. Sizing the next one up, she sighs heavily, puts it back and picks up a third chicken. After about three of four minutes of juggling the third frozen chicken from one hand to another, weighing it and feeling its size she turns to the Shop Assistant behind her and in a frustrated tone says, "Excuse me, but do these chickens come any bigger than THIS??!". The assistant looks bewildered and says, "No madam. They're dead".

Well, it made me laugh.

<x-tad-smaller>Hello all. This is my first message to the group, I've been watching and reading from afar for some time now (New Zealand to be exact).  My potted BA story - first saw them at Newport Centre supporting REM, blown away. From that moment on bought anything I saw, caught them live all over Bristol (Fleece, Vic Rooms, Thekla, Anson Rooms, Fiddlers, & others I've forgotten the name of -  a cafe place on Park Street, a Xmaxs gig at a club in St.Pauls, help me with names please?!).  Moved to Somerset where I once sat in a cafe in Glastonbury on the table next to Rodney singing to his girlfriend. Bizarre.  Even my wife - not known for interest in things indie - has a soft spot for Rodders and the 'Planes and could be dragged along to gigs.  Last show was the Xmas gig before we moved down here (Dec 2002).  This recent flurry of e-mails has got me all nostalgic and home-sick for England, Bristol, but mainly for jangly guitars and pretentious lyrics  - "there's a Mexican boy playing with my shoestrings, what can I say? This is very sloppy writing today".  A good 80% of my vinyl collection is still in the loft back home and so I'm having to survive with my 'best of' CD and of course Swagger/Beatsongs.  I too have never heard of Lit 1 and Lit 2 but they sound right up my street.  Is anyone willing to burn me a copy and post to NZ and make a homesick indie boy very happy.  In return I will send you a compilation of hip Kiwi tunes (no honestly, there's some pretty good stuff down here!).  I will be there in spirit for the Xmas gig perhaps Gerard could dedicate 'Pony Boy' to his Kiwi fan club - Chris & Anne?!</x-tad-smaller>

Paul, that was me, again. On top of the treeful!
yes, I'd love a copy of LIT, though I will no doubt miss the interplay of jangling guitars in the background.
I take it you'll be at THE gig?

What I'd rather have, and happy to pay for, are some live gigs.
I have one live gig, mentioned on here b4 called 'viva' I bought off ebay which has 2 shows on it milton keynes 1992 (awesome) and town and country sept 1992 (not so good, even though I would have been in the crowd whooping!) - copies to anyone who wants - plus the rather inconsistant 'fruit'
so any booklegs would be warmly welcomed.

One of the many songs which seem to have been hanging around unreleased for
ages. See also "Bright Star Catalogue", "Raise the Roof", "Birthday Suit

something wasn't it? Nick White did me a copy, so it must have been. What
was it on, Nick?

Has anyone seen a track listing for the new album?

Oh, and who was asking about LIT? Did somebody want a copy?
