Um.... A lesser known fact about the gobshite they call me... I collect Blue Glass too! Have to confess tho, most of it wasn't bought in Bristol coz it IS hard to track it down there for some bizarre reason (Brizzle people - isn't there a shop up by Christmas Steps somewhere? Near that bit of wall that's black and white checked tiles...? If that's already been answered, do ignore me! Have to confess that I only really half read these posts!)

Anyway. Blue glass. Yes. I love it too. I can't help it. It's just so beauuuutiful. :o)

Perhaps you could persuade them to make a blue glass aeroplane?

Many thanks Paul.I,ve been in touch with Bristol Blue Glassworks and
I
hope to visit them in early December, if and when the Aeroplanes play.
In truth, I've had to cancel three trips to Bristol to see the
Planes, so
it's become a mini obsession just to get there. I now have another
excuse
NOT to cancel again.
If anyone has any other info on this craft' could you put it up here.
Sorry Steve, but it is Blue Aeroplanes related !

   mucho gracias

Bristol is indeed famous for its blue glass - a very beautiful deep
blue
indeed. I think there is a small shop selling it on the main road
(East
Street) in Bedminster on the part of the road rather grandly named
Bedminster Parade.. I don't know if its still actually produced
there,
but
I'm sure they could tell you in the shop. Nick on this list lives
not
far
from there. In truth Bedminster is probably more famous for
tobacco -
there
were several huge WD & HO Wills factories there.

From memory the tradition of making blue glass in Bristol died out
for
many
years. Only very recently was the practice re-started. They had
problems
as when they went to start making it again they found out that
no-one
seemed
to have actually bothered to actually write down how it was done!

Should I find myself passing the shop between now and 2nd Dec I'll
note
down
the name and see if they have a website. They may or may not be
connected
with this place http://www.bristolblueglass.com/

Well if it's 'Use It or Lose It' time, i'll use it.
Somewhere in my search for accomodation near Bedminster last
year, I
stumbled upon a local history site that has Bedminster as a big
player
in
'Bristol Glass' ? A Blue Glass particular and noted to the area.
   Does this still happen ?
If so I would like to partake of correspondence with anyone
involved
with,
or knowledgable about, this form, so that I know where to go around
the
2nd
THIS year.
