If you didn't and you don't know anyone that did, then you can safely delete
this e-mail now! (With the Aeroplanes being a Bristol band I know there a
quite a few locals on this list, so forgive me for taking up bandwidth).
If you did, please read on:
As some of you will know, I'm now at Liverpool University studying Popular
Music. As part of this course I have to do one major dissertation project,
and I have chosen to do some ethnography (studying people in social
situations, in a nutshell) about the Granary, so I need to communicate with
some of you lovely former Granary regulars.
I'm asking you to volunteer to take part in my project. It won't take up
much time at all - it'll just be answering a few questions or asking you to
comment on a particular Granary related subject every once in a while. It
will take up very little effort, and you can be as involved as you like.
Most of it can be carried out by e-mail, so you can participate as the mood
takes you. I might arrange the odd interview or group discussion, but
nothing is compulsory - you can dip in and out as you please.
You can be anonymous in some or all of your comments (you might want to
mention certain things you got up to that you might not want others to know,
or even of illegal activities, and I'd hate for anyone to incriminate
themselves, or someone else, or leave me in court on a libel charge!) - its
basically all up to you. I'm happy to answer any questions before you
commit, either in person, by phone or by e-mail.
One thing I can promise is that if I get a good mark for it then I'll be
buying a few beers at a future Granareunited night!
Thanks for reading this far, and I hope to hear from some of you soon.
Please forward this to any other former Granary people of your acquaintance
- I'd like to widen participation as much as possible. If you are on Al
Read's Granary e-mail list, then you may get another e-mail similar to this,
for which I can only apologise. If you aren't on Al's list, then you may
not know about this website: http://www.thegranaryclub.co.uk/ or the fact
that there is a Granareunited night on Sunday 23rd October at Panache in
Bristol. I'll be there if anyone wants to ask me anything, or of course to
volunteer!
All the best.
Paul Vallis
