There he is! See, we didn't scare him away!!
Hi Gareth - re: "Righto, I'll head away but if you want a longer desposition as to my love of the BA's I'll be happy to bore you, Christ knows no one else of my friends are interested!!" - then you are in good company mate! We all have that problem, hence the desparation and enthusiasm any time this mailing list springs to life! (Typical insult to the BA's I get any time I ever try to play them in the company of anyone who's never heard of them is, "is that bloke actually singing or what?" Sad thing is, I can't really answer it! In fact, my worst insult hurled at them so far is from my boyfriend who, when at Latimer Grammer in the 80's, bunked off a music lecture purely BECAUSE Rodney was giving the talk! said boyfriend writes his own songs now... make of that what you will!)

Anyway, dont panic - the Christmas gig we were talking about happens annually in Bristol at the (Oh! Bugger! I've forgotten! Where is it!?! Oh, some kind soul'll tell ya)... so you wont miss them this year. You may however miss me, as I keep saying I'll go and then blowing it out.

Honest... this year...

Blimey,
what a response!
Enough to scare any sensible sane man (or woman) away to hide forever in the ether of the internet.

Luckily, as liking the blue aeroplanes is one of the questions my psychiatrist asked me during my stint in a straightjacket it ain't a problem for me!

Hi all!!

The names Gareth and been a fan since I first heard '...and stones' blow out of the TV speakers on some saturday morning yoof program way back in the late 1980's (when ever it was released)

Followed them closely ever since, with at times disappointing returns (see life model and rough music), seen them some 15x live, some amazing, some decent, others (like the last time in Leicester at the Charlotte about 7 yrs? ago) worse than seeing my gran trying to do karaoke to 'The Ace of Spades'

And yet I still listen (much to the annoyance of my misses who hates them with a vengeance - though I did once get her to go to a concert at Town & Country Kentish town for a totally brilliant concert and thought , stupidly as it turned out, to make her swap her allegiance from REM) more the blues than any other artist.

I was scared off the early stuff by the first friendloverplane, and only on the much later release of Warhols15 did I then delve into those first fabulous albums.

Now I understand why so many original fans would have got pissed off with the rather conventional swagger albums onwards.

Tried, wholly unsuccessfully to get even one of my mates into the band, but none could get past Gerald, bless his cotton socks, the best and at times worst aspect of the BA's lack of mainstream fame and fortune

I'd love to know what live albums you all have out there, I got one off e-bay called VIVA!, which had 2 concerts (you probably all know this so I wont say more unless asked bar the first concert is fantastic second, even excepting ropy recording poorer)

Anyway, thought I better write something, still haven't waded through all of dec 04 entries, before I already got ostracised for my lack of correspondence.

Righto, I'll head away but if you want a longer desposition as to my love of the BA's I'll be happy to bore you, Christ knows no one else of my friends are interested!!

Mean Fiddler in London in Dec? (why london not Bristol???)

Count me in boys and girls!

Also how many sad people are there on this mailing list???

Have I now or ever been a member of the Blue Aeroplanes?

Unfortunately not, but my air guitar has to be seen to be believed

Gtb

ps is the above the right address to get to all the members??
