Hi all,

I don't think there would have been room for Woytek at the Thekla anyway - Caroline was almost standing in the wings and Ruth could barely move as it was! Evidently the on stage sound was pretty dire and Billl and Ruth Coch didn't enjoy themselves as much, but I earwigged positive comments from Gerard, Hazel, John and Rodney afterwards. They said that there were quite a few mistakes made, down to the on-stage problems and minimal rehearsal, but I reckon that was more than made up for by the energy of the performance. The out-front sound was quite cacophanous too - but in a good way! My only disappointment was that they didn't do Bury Your Love Like Treasure, which they had evidently rehearsed.

They also did Streamers - not sure if anyone has mentioned that one yet?

Lovely to see NW, PV2 and Mrs PV2 as usual - sorry I didn't get a chance to chat later on - was keeping an eye on Hazel's guitars backstage (that Gibson 335 she was playing was the one she used to use in her Aeroplanes days and never usually gets an outing nowadays, as she uses Telecasters on all her solo stuff).

I asked Gerard about the album too, and I still don't think that we should hold our breath, although he seems to be still actively looking for a deal to release it. I did sneak a listen to the album version of Surreal Thing though (Gerard had burnt it onto a CD for Hazel to learn it for the gig) and it rocks! Sounds like its got Dawn and Baz Larder (The Radon Daughters, who were in the audience at the Thekla) on backing vocals on it.

MessageOne of the best performances they've given, I'd say. No Wojtek, but you can't have everything. Gerard, Rodney, John L, Ruth Cochrane, Caroline Trettine, and Hazel Winter on stage with the Aeros for the first time in 12 years. They played Razor Walk, Action Painting, Surreal Thing, Jacket Hangs, Aeroplane Blues, 88 Out, Yr Own World, and more. Good showing from the mosh pit too - not just us hardened fans dancing like it's the Last Time - there were normal folks in there too!

Quick word with Gerard - still promising the new album shortly. Can't
wait!

That was great. I'm still grinning! I got there just in time for Gonga, who I really enjoyed, and The Heads were great too. It was great to see Hazel on stage again too! And I finally got into the moshpit for "Breaking In My Heart" as well. I haven't pogoed that much in ages!
