....And John Langley between the sticks played a blinder. He hasn't lost
his pace as he's got older and he reads the game very well. And Rodney
played very well in the hole behind the lone striker - covered every blade
of grass on the pitch.
It could have gone either way, but I think the home advantage that gave them
that extra edge. The atmosphere was electric, the crowd were over the moon
and at the end of the day Music was the real winner that night.
Will be next gig be as good? Well, its a big ask.

PS: As for "sick as a parrot" I've no idea of the source. Its now so much
of a football (as in soccer) cliche that its rarely used. Used to mean
"will be really annoyed at losing the game/missing that simple chance to
score/being sent off/etc.....
PPS: Lisa's comment for the last gig could be the Wengeresque "I didn't see
the incident".....
PPPS: For further torture from the mouth of Kevin Keegan:

Nicely put.
But to be positive and without any disrespect to the midfield and attack, I
thought the back four of Ruth Cochrane was sensational in December.

I think the analogy works better with amateur football, unfortunately.

To be fair, there are very few football squads where the manager simply
picks 'whoever is available'. Imagine if real teams did that.
And not many football squads contain members of both genders.
So as an analogy it does have certain shortcomings.
Goalposts for jumpers, anyone?

When I interviewed Gerard he liked the Aeroplanes to a football squad,
where
he picked the team from whoever was available. That's now looking like a
very accurate analogy.
Jumpers for goalposts?
