Is it just me or does RW's new single sound like something the Human
League rejected in about 1983?

Ooh - The Lilac Time! Saw them in the Fleece back in about 1990 and
they
were excellent. I wonder what sort of deal Duffy has with Williams'
management? He's a real talent, but the latest Robbie single shows that
maybe he is keeping his best material for himself? ;-)

Blue Aeroplanes (Beatsongs tour line-up)
supported (as if to show I don't really belong
here....) by:
Adam Ant (don't laugh - he's still the best live act
I've seen, and the early post-punk songs are terrific; (reportedly
Gerard wanted to record Goody Two Shoes, perhaps ironically, for the NME
Ruby Trax album but was vetoed by the rest of the band); sadly now
bonkers which leads us on to....)
Julian Cope (compelling, and even better when he plays
the right songs)
Stephen Duffy and the Lilac Time (surprisingly now
writing with Robbie Williams and making all the money
he should have made from his own records)
The Polyphonic Spree (they only make sense when you
seem them live)
Oh, finished already. Can't I have a top 10? I could
then include James Blunt, Tindersticks, Magnetic
Fields, Belle & Sebastian, Dexy's Midnight Runners
and... Damn. Can I have a top 20?
