I still maintain that for the live Aeroplanes experience, the closest
they ever got was the Glastonbury 92 BBC session. I have done several
people cassette copies, but I'm sure someone must have a digital copy by
now.

I think it was that Mean Fiddler gig that Rodney played in his own
rightas support(with Paul Mulroney?) but at the end of the Aeros' set
Gerrard asked us who we wanted to lead on BIMH.
'RODNEY' we shouted, and there he was. What *LIVE* does for me might be
the same ;I suddenly have an undeniable urge to dig out recorded
material which hasn't previously been given it's dues.'Fruit' was one of
them this time but also 'Weird Shit, and I'm absolutely impressed
by'Showing off to impress the girls', and also'Roundheads(on every
corner). I' also given a 12" Boy in the Bubble a listen for Talkin' on
the other Phone.

I agree with Paul, I think Fruit is a shocker, and along with
Friendloverplane 2 arguably should not have been released as it devalues
the body of work overall. I think the band must have been going through
Ryan Adams syndrome, ie if it exists release it ... never mind if it is
actually any good or not. None of the available live tracks match the
actual experience of being there, especially in a mid-size venue like
the Mean Fiddler with a good sound system.

Talking of which i didnt think Wierd Shit came out as a cassette until
'96, but could be wrong. I remember meeting Nora at the Mean Fidder gig
in 94 (the Bop Art re-union show).

And talking of that show, i remember the old line up met three days
before the gig for a rehearsal in East London somewhere. We had a few
cans during the evening, before Gerard and John announced they had to
rush to Paddington for the last train to Bristol. I put them in my car
and sped off down the street - the wrong way down a one-way. Blue
flashing lights. Woops! The boys in blue had a good look at the car and
after a while basically let me off without a breathalizer, which i may
well have been close to failing. I was so elated that we could continue
i turned to the departing policeman and, engaging in a bit of polite
banter, said, "So which way is it to officer, Paddington?" He took
another long hard look at me before muttering, gerroutofit!
