Smith / Duffy

I'm another one who Elliott Smith kind of passed by.  Will be scouring friends' CD collections to find something to borrow.  Matthew Jay went a few weeks ago as well.  Anyone come across him?

I saw the Lilac Time at the Fleece in Bristol, must have been about 1990, and they were excellent.  He writes very classy, classic pop songs, and has an unerring ear for a great tune.  I've got their & Love For All album, and Duffy's I Love My Friends, neither of which I've played in a while, but your e-mail has got me to drag out the latter one and its playing now, so thanks Nick!  There was another Lilac Time album that an ex had that was great as well but I can't remember the name of it.  I do, however, remember that there was a track called Love Becomes A Savage, that she really liked.  Not the most romantic of relationships, now that I look back on it......

Ho hum.

Paul

Cheers. You can listen to bits of a few tracks from
XO on amazon and it sounded well worth hearing more
of, so I've ordered it.
There's a lot of talk about Elliott Smith on the
Stephen Duffy/Lilac Time yahoo group. Anyone else
here a fan of SD/LT? For those who remember him as
"Tintin" I can assure you that he's all grown up and
folky these days! Well, aren't we all sometimes.
There are mp3s at www.stephenduffy.com.
