A great gig it was too. Stuff off both the old album and the imminent one, a couple of even newer ones and some bizarre but entertaining between-song comments about buddhists and buddism. She really does look like she's possessed by something from a 70's horror film when she's playing some of those distorted chords. Quite an interesting audience as well - many of Bristol's rock luminaries: Gerard, Adrian Utley (Portishead, who worked on Hazel's first album), Patrick Duff (ex Strangelove, who had more than one former 'plane in their ranks) and Ruth Cochrane, who Hazel is playing a gig with at Il Bordello on Tuesday 23rd. Gerard was saying that Stig, Hazel's lead guitarist, used to share a flat with Angelo way back when, and he reckons that some of Angelo rubbed off. Stig is really excellent, and gives Hazel's song some real atmosphere.
Will probably be at the Il Bordello gig too. If you've never been there, just go down King Street, past the Llandoger and the Old Duke, over the road, and Il Bordello is the boat right there. The bar is a wee bit pricey and its a bit small inside, but it should make for an excellent intimate show.
Ah, yes. The recording. To be honest, Paul, I can't see where I'm going to fit the time in at the moment. I'm moving to Liverpool in a fortnight, so I need to pack my entire life up between now and then. I'm also in Liverpool half of this week and at least a day the week after, and between all that its running around checking on Dad at home and Mum in the BRI. I'm happy if you want to take the thing off me and work on it yourself however. I'm really sorry I can't be any more help, but there just aren't enough days in the week at the moment.

Definitely go if you can - she's a blast live. Can't make it myself, so I hope PV1 can hold up the side.
Now - what about that recording, Paul???

Just to remind those of you in the fair city of Bristol that Hazel Winter is playing at the Folk House on Friday 12th September (that's probably tonight by the time you read this!)
If you've not seen her, she's well worth checking out. The new album Death Row Bride is at least as dark and unsettling as her first one (Put Away The Sharp Knives) and she's always good live.
Hope to see you there.
