I realize that the list membership covers a great deal of geographic and
political ground, making it a good place to get into involved and heated
discussions about what's going on in the world and whether it's right or
wrong.
Let's remember, though, that this list is for Blue Aeroplanes discussion.
Discussions about world events, political issues or your new
internet-connected icebox aren't appropriate topics.
There are a lot of people on this list just lurking, members because
they're
interested in BA news, tour dates, etc. When they start seeing politically
motivated messages, they unsubscribe. This hurts the Aeroplanes community
and could indirectly hurt the band (missed show announcements means missed
ticket sales, etc).
How about a separate list for BA fans to discuss off-topic material? It'd
be
nothing for me to set up, and would allow BA fans to discuss their
wide-ranging political views without offending those who aren't interested.
If that sounds like a good idea to you, let me know. Either way, let's keep
the regular BA list on-topic.
