Re: [Blueplanes] (no subject)Like most of us, I was hoping for a swift
resolution to this situation. Well, okay, certainly I spoke too soon.
What I should have done was not spoken at all.
To everybody I would say - enough with the politics. You don't need me to
point out the following facts.
We're not going to solve anything with vicious attacks on one anothers'
political views. We're not, in fact, going to solve anything. We're a
disparate group of music fans with no real influence on current affairs
and our platform is a list dedicated to pop music. Which is not to say
that we're powerless - there are plenty of ways to get involved - but
squabbling on a music listing is never going to help much.
Given these facts, and with the greatest respect to everybody's views, can
we please keep to the Blue Aeroplanes as our subject? We all have our
positions in this exchange of views, this oratory, this debate...but...I'd
suggest we keep them to ourselves and stop needlessly upsetting one
another. Maybe music seems trivial in the light of huge events like this,
but there are more appropriate forums in which to debate such things.
Now then. Having said that, does anybody have any Aeroplanes news? What
ever happened to Gerard's poetry albums, for example?

I don't think this is an appropriate forum for discussing the War on
Iraq / the War on Terror / the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein / etc., but
I can't leave unquestioned the notion that "it" is over: that depends on
what counts as "it" and what counts as "over." For some people: soldiers,
relatives of soldiers, mutilated civilians, it won't ever be over.
Virginia Woolf, Mrs Dalloway (1925): "It was the middle of June. The
war was over." (but read on). Wrong e-list, but I assume there's a fair
level of literacy in these parts.

Whatever our views - it's over. I'm glad.
