Damn shame this doesn't apply to politics, and Mariah Carey. But since
they're self-winding... well...
Long time ago, I went to see Yes on the 90125 tour, playing the Civic
Center in Rapid City, South Dakota. From what I'd been reading in the
paper beforehand, there was no supporting act. Yes and Berlin had been
booked together, but since Berlin's stage was so elaborate, and Yes'
stage was likewise elaborate, the audience would have had to wait
something like four hours between sets. So, Berlin was scrapped.
So who'd Yes get for support? When it was time for the show to start,
a big screen dropped down from the ceiling, and they showed three Bugs
Bunny cartoons, including "Bully For Bugs" where Bugs is the matador!
I like that one cos Bugs gets as good as he gives. When he says, "Of
course, you realise this means WAR!" the whole place went nuts. We
were all pumped up for Yes...
...come to think of it, it was sorta anticlimactic.
-Doc, who promises to never ever tell any more gig stories. Soon, I'll
be saying things like, "When I were a lad..."
n.p. Morphine, "The Night". This album is amazing.
